2025 is around the corner.
This is the time where many of us feel tempted to begin the year in the same way: I need to lose weight.
But, sis, wait—what if is the last year you begin like that?

Imagine, coming to a place where you are honest and disciplined in your habits, you are aware of your food weaknesses, and you put the tools in place to set you up to WIN.
The problem for many of us is that our goal is too small. For so many years, I thought I was seeking to be in a smaller body. I thought that was my problem.
Years of nurturing an undisciplined appetite. Years of settling for my joy to be in food. Years of thinking I was giving myself love, when I really was putting on my own chains year after year.
But not this year. Here are 5 things you can do to transform your weight journey, without having your measure of success be on a scale. If you build the foundation, the rest will follow:
1) Eat a Balanced Diet: Focus on incorporating a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats into your meals. This can help ensure you’re getting all the necessary nutrients your body needs. My top pro tip: Make your dinner and lunch plate half vegetables.
2) Make moving your body a daily goal: I found the easiest way for me to obtain this goal was to take a daily walk for 30 minutes. The burden on me was small (no changing clothes, no burdensome fitness activities), and the benefits were apparent. Once that became easier, I added more things. Our goal —do this as many days as you can. I have started to consider exercise as a task to complete each day, same as doing my work or making my bed. Find activities you enjoy, whether it’s walking, dancing, swimming, or yoga.
3)Eat regularly: This is a big one. So many of us skip meals, and then are eating late into the night. Remember, your body will make you eat if you ignore it. Decide to plan to eat 3 meals during the day, and then try to not eat another thing until your next meal. Foods high in protein (like lean meats, beans, and nuts) and fiber (like vegetables, fruits, and whole grains) can help you feel fuller longer and reduce the urge to snack.
4) Make water your friend: One gift you can give yourself is to fill up your water bottle in the beginning of each day and carry it with you. Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning to kickstart your hydration for the day. If you find plain water boring, consider using flavor packets or drops that are low in sugar and calories. Wherever you go, your water bottle goes.
5) Prioritize Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Good sleep is crucial for overall health, affecting everything from your mood to your immune system. It. may help to establish a consistent sleep schedule and go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This helps regulate your body’s internal clock.
We are going to begin 2025 and feel the pressure to try to make your body look different. Let’s focus on making your habits different, and you may see unexpected changes.
